History of Music





Stephen Rose is Reader in Music at Royal Holloway, University of London. He was Principal Investigator on two collaborative projects with the British Library: Early Music Online (2011) and A Big Data History of Music (2014–15). Recent publications include The musician in literature in the age of Bach (2011) and Leipzig church music from the Sherard collection(2014).

Sandra Tuppen is Lead Curator, Modern Archives & Manuscripts, 1600–1850 at the British Library. She was Co-Investigator on A Big Data History of Music and has worked on several other digital music projects, including Early Music Online and the RISM UK Catalogue of Music Manuscripts. She obtained her PhD with a study of music in the Restoration theatre, and has published articles on Charles II’s Shrovetide entertainments and (most recently) on Henry Purcell (in Early Music, May 2015).


Loukia Drosopoulou was AHRC Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the Big Data History of Music project. Following her doctoral studies at the University of York she has worked as a cataloguer of special music collections at the British Library and Cardiff University. She has published articles on the music of Luigi Boccherini, 18th-century music copyists and court life, and the provenance of historic music collections.
